"Wings"

I
WOULD RATHER
SPEND MY LIFE CLOSE TO THE BIRDS,
THAN WASTE IT,
WISHING I HAD WINGS.

"Remember"

~Always Remember to forget,
The things that made you sad;
But never forget to Remember,
The things that made you glad.

~Always Remember to forget,
The friends that proved untrue;
But don't forget to Remember;
Those that have stuck by you.

~Always Remember to forget,
The troubles that passed your way;
But never forget to Remember,
The Blessings that come each day.

~Between
Living

"For Strong Women"

~A Strong Woman
is a Woman
who Loves Strongly, Weeps Strongly,
and has Strong Needs.
~A Strong Woman
is Strong in Words,
in Action,
in Connection,
in Feeling;
~She is not Strong as a Stone,
but as a Wolf suckling her Young.
~Strength is not in Her,
but She enacts it
as the Wind fills a Sail.

What Comforts her
is others Loving Her Equally
for the Strength and the Weakness
from which it issues,
Lightning from a Cloud.
Lightning stuns.
In Rain the clouds disperse.
Only Water of Connection remains,
Flowing Through Us.
Strong is what We make each other.
~Until We are Strong Together,
a Strong Woman
is Strongly Afraid.

"To Risk"

To Laugh
is to risk appearing the fool

To Weep
is to risk appearing sentimental

To Reach Out
for another is to risk involvement

To Expose Feelings
is to risk exposing our True Self

To Place
your ideas, your dreams,
before the crowd,
is to risk loss

To Love
is to risk not being loved in return

 To Live
is to risk dying

 To Hope
 is to risk despair

 To Try
at all, is to risk failure

But to Risk We Must...
the greatest hazard in Life, is to risk nothing
The Man, the Woman, Who Risks Nothing,
Does Nothing, Has Nothing, is Nothing.

"Woman"

Woman, look to the mirror
In the Autumn of your years
Woman, you try so hard on hidin'
As you're makin' up at the vanity of your fears
You're paintin' your face in the mornin'
And you touch up your grey- streaked hair
with a dye of auburn-brown
With a pencil you're linin' your eyes to smile
But the years of your hardened heart
still turnin' your mouth to a frown
Take off your mask... my Lady
The Marriage will come...
so prepare... for the Cleansing  of the Lamb
See the diamonds in that crown
you've been wearin'
Now do they resemble the thorns
in the crown He did bear?
Did He see you...clothed in scarlet linen
As you turned the homeless away
from your door, with only a prayer?
Do you remember the Power,
how He loved those who pierced Him
While you were crusadin' by the power
of your blood-stained sword?
Were you sleepin' with kings, in a bed
that denied Him?
Will you let go of the gavel,
Hold the nail-scarred hands He bore
Woman, look to the mirror
What will He desire of you,
in the Autumn of your years?
Your sins have marred you, but
He will bring you beauty, again
He will hold You...
if you cry a humblin' tear.

"Know Who I Am"

I cried out to God
Show Me Your Face
and God
sent me a Child
I learned about Surrender
As I gave way to the surges of birthing energy
I learned Compassion
As my little one's cry pierced my heart
I learned Powerlessness
as I laid awake with my inconsolable infant
I learned Faithfulness
Rocking my feverish baby day and night waiting
for the healing,
I found Patience
As my child asked me to do it again
just one more time
I learned Fierceness in love
That could take me to death to defend
my sweet child
I learned Tolerance
Accepting myself enough to love my child
in a fit of tantrum,
I learned Kindness
As my tears were kissed away by tiny lips
I learned Respect
As I wondered at the profound wisdom
of one so small,
I learned Humility
Seeing the Divine in the eyes of my Child
God Answered My Cry
Know Who I Am
As You Love Your Child
So It is That I Love You.

"Pain"

 Your Pain
is the breaking of the shell
that encloses your understanding.
Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its
Heart may stand in the Sun,
so must you know Pain.
And could you keep your Heart in the wonder at the daily
Miracles of your Life,
Your Pain would not seem less wondrous than your Joy.
And would you accept the Seasons of your Heart,
even as you have always accepted the Seasons
 that pass over your Fields.
And would you watch with Serenity
through the Winter of your Grief.
Much of your Pain is self-chosen.
It is the bitter potion by which the Physician
within  you heals the sick self.
Therefore, trust the Physician,
and drink its remedy in Silence and Tranquility;
For his hand though heavy and hard,
is Guided by the Tender hands
of the Unseen.
And the cup he brings,
though it burns your lips,
has been fashioned of the
clay which the Potter
has moistened
with His own
Sacred
Tears.
