" A Little Candle Who Was Frightened of the Dark"

`Little candle, little candle, why do you shine so slightly?'
`I am scared', said the little candle,
`I am scared of the dark'.
`Oh, I am sorry,' said the great green candle.
`That would be frightening, indeed, for there is darkness
all around us.'
On Christmas Eve in a small church
next to the shopping center,
the candles of the Advent Wreath
try to encourage a little baptismal candle
who is frightened of the dark.

~Each of the Advent Candles re-tell
this portion of the Christmas Story.
The Little Candle is encouraged
that even though darkness is all around us,
the Light of Christ
overcomes
the Darkness.
