"Woman's Heart"

~I am willing to die for my people.
~Chief Theresa Spence:
Chief of Attawapistkat First Nation; Canada

"Idle No More"

Woman's Heart: Written in Honour of Chief Theresa Spence.

It
started as a Spark in a rundown Native town
a Woman got fed up with their Treatment by the crown
she said,"we can't make Something out of Nothing anymore"
it's time for things to Change, or our Heart will beat no more
she chose the Path of Love and Peace, a Path that could not fail
to bring the Truth into the Light, and the People's eyes unveil
she dared the crown to Meet her, and Speak of things to come
and if they Refused her Life would soon be done
you can't quench the Fire that burns in a Woman's Heart
for  It burns the Spirit of her Love
a Mother's true Desire is to see her People well
and She will Give her All to see that come
this becomes the Point at which my Sight begins to dim
but what was clear there was a Change upon the Wind
the People got behind Her and Rallied to Her Cause
they Stood as One to Fight oppressive Laws
it wasn't just the Natives that the crown  Betrayed
All the Peoples of the Land had Lost their Rightful say
the government did Dictate for those who worship Greed
and it Cared Not for any with a Need
they said,"Let them All Work harder, for the Fruits of Mother Earth
since they have no Money, then to us they have no Worth
we will Do as we please, as we have always Done
but they did not See what our Lady had Begun
the Wind  began to Blow upon our Lady's Spark
a tiny Flame began to grow in All the People's Hearts
the crowd of course began to lie and Stamp the Fire out
but the World had Heard our Lady's whispered shout
you can't quench the Fire that Burns in a Woman's Heart
for  It burns the Spirit of Her Love
a Mother's true Desire is to see her People well
and She will Give her All to see that come
the Wind of Truth blew harder and the Fire began to Spread
People could See clearly now, how we had been Mislead
we could See in the name of Greed this way had Long been going on
and there was Hope to see a Loving Dawn

You Can't Quench the Fire that Burns in a Woman's Heart
For in it Burns the Spirit of Her Love
A Mother's true Desire is to See her Children Well
And She will Give Her All to See That Come.

You Can't Quench the Fire that Burns in a Woman's Heart...

~Since  11 December, 2012, Chief Spence has been on Hunger Strike.
Chief Spence has requested a Meeting with Prime Minister Stephen Harper to discuss Canadian treatment
of First Nation's Peoples and Recognition of First Nation's Treaty Rights.  Too date, this has not been granted. In the name of Justice and Compassion
this meeting needs to take place, with the crown present, so open dialogue can begin. This is for the
benefit of allThis issue not only affects those in Canada,  its consequences are far-reaching.

~To Chief Theresa Spence: Our thoughts and prayers are with you-Unified and in One Voice.
May God continue to hold you in the Palm of His mighty hand. ~May your Light continue to Shine
as  a Beacon of Hope and Peace to All Peoples of First Nation's.
